Hello and welcome to our open source video community,

My name is Zohar Babin and I lead Developer Relations and Community Development at Kaltura.
I would love to get to know you, learn more about how you plan to use Kaltura, and what your expectations are of online video.

Our community is always looking for contributors and active users, there are many ways to contribute to the projects as well as the open video movement.

Kaltura Video Extension for Joomla - Installation Guide

 

Overview

The open source Kaltura Video extension for Joomla handles every aspect of video and rich-media, including content management, syndication, monetization, transcoding, uploading and importing content, editing and remixing of content online.

The extension is available in two flavors – either hosted by Kaltura with tier 1 hosting and streaming services and a 10 GB FREE trial, or connected to the community-supported self-hosted version of Kaltura, which is completely for free.

 

Pre – install Requirements

Installation Process

The Extension is comprised of 3 installables.
The following 3 zip files are available in the extension bundle, each folder represent a Joomla installable.

  1. Plugin - editors-xtd
  2. Plugin - content
  3. Component - component

 

 

Follow these steps to install your extension

  1. Download the latest release from the project page
  2. Extract the release zip bundle to your disk
  3. Login to the Joomla administration panel
  4. Select Extensions > Install/Uninstall
  5. Browse for the editors-xtd.zip file and press the “Upload File & Install” button
  6. You should receive a success message
  7. Repeat steps 3-5 for content.zip
  8. Repeat steps 3-5 for component.zip
  9. Go to Extensions > Plugin Manager
  10. Enable the plugins: “Content – Kaltura Video” and “Editor Button – Kaltura Video”
  11. Go to Components > Kaltura Video
  12. Signup to Kaltura and obtain a Partner ID or if you have an existing Partner ID, enter your email and password.
  13. Save your confirmation email as it contains credentials for logging in to the Kaltura Management Console.
  14. To configure your extension to use the Kaltura hosted solution or the Kaltura self-hosted solution, go to Components > Kaltura Video and enter your local hosting URL. (The default will be the Kaltura hosted solution 10GB free trial.)

Het uploaden van video's in VideoShare werkt niet geheel naar wens. Dit is te wijten aan de ontbrekende installatie's van sommige onderdelen in het linux-besturingssysteem. Linux is standaard geïnstalleerd

Begin werkzaamheden installatie VideoShare.

Na een paar weken weer gelukt in te loggen. Het wordt toch tijd de router te vervangen. Ondertussen van de gelegenheid gebruik gemaakt om een aantal video-extensies voor Joomla te te testen. HwdVideoShare heb ik getest met Joomla versie 1.5.20 en vriendelijk genoeg in gebruik bevonden. Tot nu toe geen problemen mee ondervonden op de testserver. Deze extensie kan videobestanden tijdens het uploaden converteren naar flc of mp4 formaat. We zullen maar gauw beginnen met installeren. Van dit gepraat wordt je ook niet veel wijzer.
